🧠 Mindset Message of the Week
Adversity is a necessary ingredient for building mental strength—it’s through struggle that resilience is formed.
True victory begins long before the scoreboard lights up.
It starts in the quiet moments when no one is watching. That’s when you make choices about who you are becoming and how you’ll respond when things get tough.
Struggles aren’t something to run from. They’re how you grow stronger. Just like muscles grow from lifting weights, your mind gets stronger by facing challenges. Mental toughness takes time, and it’s built by showing up, staying positive, and learning from every setback.
This week, I want you to pay attention to your mindset. Are you thinking with a growth mindset or a fixed mindset?
A growth mindset means you believe you can improve through effort, practice, and learning. When you mess up, you don’t quit. You ask, “What can I do better next time?”
A fixed mindset believes you’re either good at something or you’re not. If things feel hard, you might give up or think you’re just not cut out for it.
But here’s the truth. No one is born with a strong mind. It’s something you train. Every hard moment is a chance to grow if you choose to learn from it.
🔧 Performance Play
Sleep & Performance: Do you have a digital sunset?
Prioritize a consistent wind-down routine. Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day helps regulate your circadian rhythm, leading to deeper, more restorative sleep. Quality sleep improves focus, reaction time, emotional control, and physical recovery—making it one of the most powerful (and underrated) tools for high performance.
Tip: Start winding down 30–60 minutes before bed by dimming lights, turning off digital screens, and doing something calming like reading, journaling, take a bath, or stretching.
📖 Faith
Spiritual Strength – Overcoming Adversity
Adversity is not a sign that God has forgotten you—it’s often where He does His deepest work in you. Trials refine us, not define us. When you lean into God’s strength instead of your own, you discover a peace that surpasses understanding and a resilience that doesn't come from willpower, but from faith. Remember, in the fire, God is with you. Victory isn’t just surviving a storm—it’s becoming stronger through it.
👨👩👧👦 Parent & Coach Tip of the Week
Praise effort and attitude, not just outcomes.
When a child faces a challenge or friction point, highlight their problem-solving and persistence to overcome it rather than focusing only on results. This helps them develop a growth mindset—teaching them that their abilities grow through effort—and builds real confidence rooted in who they are becoming, not just what they achieve. Instead of focusing on a challenge, or judging it, see it as a great opportunity to learn and grow. Kids build mental strength and become confident when they adapt and overcome the challenges they face.
Example: My child left his binder at school and we got a note from the secretary for him to come and get it. Since we live close to the school and my child is 14, he is riding his bike to go get his belongings vs. mom and dad doing it and solving this friction point for him.
“Great job son, for picking up your binder, following through, and taking responsibility for your things! Way to go!”
