🧠 Mindset Message of the Week: Win The Reset

You can't change the last play. But you can control what happens next.

Every athlete at every level makes mistakes. Serves go into the net. Hits sail long. Passes miss the target. Referees make bad calls.

The difference between good competitors and great competitors isn't that great competitors never make mistakes. It's how quickly they refocus and recover.

Here's the problem: One mistake can become two, three, or four—not because you've lost your skills, but because your mind is still stuck on what just happened.

You miss a serve or miss a shot. Now you're frustrated. You're thinking about what went wrong, what your coach thinks, or whether you'll miss again.

Meanwhile, the next play is coming.

You can't play the next point when your mind is still on the last one.

That's called split focus. Your body is on the court, but your mind is somewhere else.

Think about two players who make the same mistake.

Player A misses a serve. Her shoulders drop. She gets frustrated, dwells on the mistake, worries about what others think, and starts playing cautiously to avoid making another one.

Player B misses the same serve. She takes a breath, resets her shoulders, lets it go, and gets ready to attack the next point with confidence.

Same mistake. Different response. That's composure.

Composure isn't about never getting frustrated. It's about how quickly you regain control, refocus on the present moment, and compete with confidence.

And composure doesn't mean you don't care. You can compete fiercely, care deeply, and still let a mistake go.

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: WIN EVERY RESET.

When something doesn't go your way:

  1. Breathe. Release the frustration.

  2. Reset. Get your body language and mindset back.

  3. Refocus. Put your attention on what matters NEXT.

Don't carry the last point into the next one. Give yourself permission to compete freely, aggressively, and confidently.

You don't have to be perfect or win every point. But you can win every single reset.

Train Your Mind Beyond This Email: Win Within!

Physical training alone is not enough. The best performers intentionally train the mental side of competition.

Our 12-Week Win Within Mental Performance Program is a self-paced course designed to help athletes build the mindset, confidence, and focus needed to perform under pressure.

🎯 Performance Play: Win Every Reset

1. RECOGNIZE YOUR TRIGGER
What causes you to lose composure? A mistake, bad call, or worry about what others think? Notice your response. Do you get frustrated, tighten up, overthink, or play cautiously?

2. RELEASE THE LAST PLAY
Mistakes happen. Even the pro’s make mistakes. Take a breath, relax your shoulders, and use a physical reset. Flush it. Don't carry the last point into the next one.

3. REFOCUS AND RESPOND
Shift your attention to what matters NEXT. Use a cue like "Next ball" or "See it. Trust it." Get your mind back in the present and compete with confidence.

RECOGNIZE. RELEASE. REFOCUS. RESPOND.

You may not win every point, but you can win every reset.

✝️ Spiritual Strength: Press On

❝

“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal.” — Philippians 3:13–14

God doesn't ask you to be perfect. He asks you to keep moving forward, trusting Him through both successes and mistakes.

You can't change what happened on the last play, but you can choose how you respond to the next one. Don't let frustration, fear, or regret steal your focus from the opportunity in front of you. Let go of what's behind. Trust God with what's ahead. Compete with freedom and confidence.

This Week's Challenge: Flush It!

Mistakes will happen. Whether you miss a shot or spill the milk. Challenge yourself to let them go quickly. Take a breath, reset your body language, and refocus on the next play. Don't let one mistake turn into two or three because you're still thinking about the last one.

Flush it. Move on. Win the next reset!

Let's win the week!
